Album Cover Ideas 2

LADY GAGA: THE FAME

Lady Gaga's The Fame was released in August 2008 and is one of the most successful albums of the decade. The cover is a close up of her face wearing sunglasses. As it was a debut album, it was important to get her image across to the audience, hense why her face dominates this cover. The black and white contrast well and make her face stand out. The red also could connote love or horror... two things prominant in her song Bad Romance. I have used this as inspiration and took the idea of a close up of the face with sunglasses. However to make it fit with our theme, i have chose the colours red, blue and white.

ELIZA DOLITTLE: ELIZA DOLITTLE.

Eliza Dolittle debuted in 2009, this her her first album which i self titled. The album is mainly design based, containing pictures such as dice, cats, lions and big ben. These connote the fact that she's a British artist and her brand image which comes across as youthful, unique and fun. This collage affect works well with her brand image, and i think it works well as an album cover. I have incorporated this into my design by using famous Hollywood images such as Oscars, Rodeo Drive and the Hollywood sign. I like this as a design, but i think it will be hard to make on InDesign and Photoshop.

This is an idea that is unique without any original album inspiration. It's completely design based and does not contain a picture of our artist. However, it does show the theme of our album.

ALBUM COVER IDEA 1

THE BEATLES. LOVE.
Love is a remix album by The Beatles released in November 2006. The design doesn't contain photo's of the band... However, the warm yellows and oranges connote that the album is going to be bright and colourful like sunshine, like most of the Beatles songs are. I have incorporated this into our design by using the same silhouette design but instead of using yellows and oranges, i have used the American flag as a background. I like this idea, however, it does not get out artist's image across well enough to the audience, it works well for the Beatles are the are a cult image that everybody knows, no matter if they are young or old, fans or haters. I like this design, but i don't think we will use it.

THE BEATLES: ABBEY ROAD.

This is perhaps one of the most famous album covers of all time. This was made into merchandise such as posters and tshirts which are still sold today, even though the album was released in 1970. I have used inspiration from this to create a design that fits our theme. I have used the same idea of crossing the road but swapped the crossing for the walk of fame and the background for LA to make it fit our album name of Hollywood. I like this idea, but i think it has been changed to much for people to notice and makes our design look too plain.
However, it would be good to use this idea as it is such an iconic image, it's still currently used in merchandise which is still sold world wide, such as mugs and tshirts.
