Album advertisement

MADONNA: HARD CANDY.
This is the advertisement for Madonna's album, Hard Candy. The main feature of this advert is Madonna herself. This is to make the audience instantly realise who it is, the background is also vivid pink as her main target audience is females. It also pops and draws attention to the poster. Madonna has been in the music industry since the early 80's and from the start, her brand image has been feminine and 'sexy', this is represented in the poster by the choice of costume. Madonna always wears little clothing, something people now associate her with, including this on the poster makes people instantly recognise who it is. Her posture also connotes her 'sexy' brand image, showing that she's still the same Madonna, and fans can expect the same music from this album. Other features also include the date of release, the name of the album and a tag line, usually a music related pun.






RIHANNA: RATED R

Rihanna's album, Rated R was released in 2008, the album included the single Disturbia, in which the image has been taken from. Her brand image started being 'girl next door' but as Disturbia was based on a horror genre, the theme has spread to the album cover. This is shown in the dark colours, and the black and white. The red writing also connotes blood, aswell as love which is a recurrent theme throughout her music. The audience would like the advert as it mainly focuses on her face, but in a completely new style. It also contains her logo which is in the top right which identifies with her sharp brand image. The date of release is also printed clearly to get the point across of when the album is released. The shot of her is also a close up, focusing on her face. her posture is also hand over face... the fact half of her face is covered shows a change in her style, and that this is an alernate to her usual style.
